"Messmaker, Messmaker, Make Me a Mess"

Sophie has discovered the joy of making messes. This morning we hadn't heard a thing from her room until 8, but when we finally did, this is what we found when we went inside. Sophie had pulled all her clothes into her crib with her.

I knew this day would eventually come when we started hanging her "closet" on her crib rail, but we just don't have enough closet space for her clothes to fit in, too, so we made this work for a year and a half. Clearly it's not going to work anymore. Then when Joseph was trying to get off to school, Sophie decided to spill his cereal all over the couch. Of course it was my expensive healthy stuff, not just cheerios! I didn't think to take a picture until after it was all cleaned up, but here are the cushions after being deep cleaned.
She's also discovered my scrapbook corner in the living room and all the fun things that are in it. She pulled all the letters out of the container and luckily we managed to save most of my paper and stuff that I really don't want ruined before she got to it, but this is what her new "play area" looks like.

I know all you veteran moms are laughing because this is par for the course in motherhood, and Sophie's definitely made her fair share of messes in the past so it's really nothing too new, but she's suddenly turned into a whirling dirvish this week and leaves a huge path of destruction in her wake everywhere she goes. And it's only 11:00 am! But she has also learned to say "mess" and says it so cute that it's hard to get mad.

I love to read your blog because I get about a six month lead on what to expect from Jack. Don't you wonder how they can do those things so quickly? Literally, you turn around for 3 seconds and turn back to find it was 2.7 seconds too long. I keep telling myself, this is how they learn about the world around them...

I am laughing, but it is nice to know I am not the only one. They do seem to up their game when the new baby is on it's way, which is way less fun for you, more fun for them, I guess.

I hate to say this but as the child grows so does the mess! Isaac, at almost 6, loves to do science experiments in my kitchen. Olivia, 3 and a half loves trying on every thing she can find in her closet, under her bed, in the play room, etc. Caleb has just learned that he too can make a mess and I must say that I am greatly out numbered! They must have learned it from their daddy!
I LOVE the video of Sophie doing her animal sounds! She is getting so big. AND you, my dear, look fabulous. Congrats on another girl. I'm a little jealous! Livi has been asking where her baby sister is. Maybe she can just borrow Sophie's?

Seriously, all you do as a mom, is chase your kids around and pick up after them on the way. (:
