...with a deer.Sophie has truly become obsessed with the movie "Bambi". I guess if you're going to ask to watch a movie a million times a day, this is at least a good and innocent one for it to be, but it's getting ridiculous. Without fail, the first thing each morning that I hear out of Sophie's lips are "Watch a little bit o' Bambi?" (Here she is doing just that.) And if I'm not letting her, she'll rephrase to "Watch 10 minutes of Bambi?" (which never ends after 10 minutes. 10 minutes to her is the entire film.) She thinks if she eats any food that it should be immediately rewarded with watching some of her favorite deer and rabbit. (She's also obviously having a hard time eating lately.) So I've been trying really hard to come up with alternate activities that she'll enjoy to get her mind off of Bambi.
When my Mom and Julie were still here this week, Mom made playdough that they made into our family.Notice how Bambi even had to join the playdough family?
My Mom also made the most adorable little playhouse for Sophie. She has loved spending time in there and often drags her daddy in with her. He's such a great sport and indulges her quite often.
We really hope this Bambi obsession will end as quickly as it started, but that just might be wishful thinking. Wish us luck!

Oh my word....How funny! I love her asking, "Watch a little bit o' Bambi?!" My kids go through things like that too-They are just die-hards about something but then they seem to get out of it pretty quick and into the next phase. I love that Bambi is part of the play-doh family :) And love the pics of baby AJ too! She helped me win a game this weekend-I'll explain the details, if you care, later.
Sophie is so cute! Those are some pretty good persuasion skills she has! That playhouse is such a good idea. Does it just go over a card table? To answer your question we're only about a half hour from Ann Arbor and I can definitely see why your friends love it. The campus is beautiful with amazing architechure.
Aah...she is so cute! Abby is looking at the blog with me right now, and she is freaking out because I scrolled down from picture of Bambi. I guess we will have to get them together again to watch Bambi. While that keeps them occupied, we can play with Avery! Maybe it will happen someday.
Are you editing the film like Phoebe's mom on Friends? If not, does she get upset over what happens?
I'm impressed that she is into such an "oldie"-- so how long until you bust out Anne of Green Gables? I can just imagine you saying "Sophie, now it is time for your real education to begin"
BTW: Gilbert Blythe is touring the US in the stage production of The Drowsy Chaperone. It is a great show- but I'm told it ruins the allure of Gilbert when you see him in this show. So you may wish to avoid it.
That's hilarious! Isn't it funny how kids will be obsessed with the weirdest things??
Sophie is so funny! I thought that movie ended tragically, though? Maybe you just skip the end. I can't believe how fast she is growing! What a doll.
weird, lucy did the same thing at that age. i kind of liked it because i was preggos with abby and needed the solace. but my mom (1st grade teacher for 30 years) advised me that it is best to steer clear of too much of a good thing. so, i had to limit the wizard of oz to 10-20 minutes a day, much to the chagrin of lucy. but i think, in the end, it was the right thing to do. just because they like it doesn't exactly mean it's good for them right?
