I had such a fun experience at the grocery store this morning. I got up to the checkstand to check out and started to put my huge load of groceries on the belt. I was about 1/3 of the way through when a guy with two items comes up behind me, proceeds to put down a divider-thingamajig right behind where my current groceries were, and then stand there. I had a ton of groceries to still put up, and my space was getting smaller and smaller now that my current groceries were moving forward. Normally, I would tell someone who had that few to just go ahead of me (even though the 10 and under checkout was just 3 down from us), but I was already being rung up when he came. So now I'm stuck and in the position of either just making all my stuff squeeze into a small little space, including two large gallons of milk, or turning around and asking him nicely if he could give me more room. I was about to do the latter when my girls both started screaming (of course) and 2 more people came up behind the guy and put their stuff down. So now I'd be asking 3 people to move back, all while wrestling two octopuses (and don't tell me that it's actually "octopi".) Grrrrr. Doesn't make for a happy mama on this shopping trip. So I just made the stuff squeeze in and got out of there as fast as I could before a true meltdown happened. Thanks a lot for being compassionate to the moms with kids out there, buddy. I appreciate it. Rant over. :)

It shocks me how oblivious people can be (and I try to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they aren't actually trying to be jerks.)
Sorry the store wasn't fun. Next time you should just step to the other end of your cart and let the kids scream right in his face. (I figure if they really are oblivious, yelling kids can often wake them up.)
that is the worst when that happens. i always load from the back of the belt and keep my cart behind me so no one can do that. plus, it keeps my kids closer to them for all the meltdowns : )
Can I just say how much I love Walmart with 4 kids! Just wait...It gets even more fun. Can't wait for school to start in 2 weeks, shopping is much easier with 1/2 the kids!
The absolute NERVE! How annoying! Not sure how your check-stand is but I always put my cart at the end of the belt and then load out of the side, that way the next person in line has to wait until I (emphasis on the I) move the cart.
I wish people would not be so rude when you have kids with you. It's like they almost expect them to be perfect little angles. I hate the lookes like gosh woman can't you keep you kids under control.
Becky, I'm shocked! I can't imagine you upset at all ;) You know, I think it is mostly men who do that kind of stuff cuz they just don't "get" it. They work all day and have no idea what it is like to drag two kids to the store, pile the groceries and kids in the car and then do it all over again when you get home. I try to avoid the grocery store as much as possible these days. Hope your next trip is better. We have all soooo been there :)
